Hey, if I don't have outlook, is there an alternative to sync with my smart phone?

Calendar, contacts?

Also, what is the best way to sync music? I don't want anything to auto sync. Is there a way to control that?

Thanks all! Smart Phone newby here! *smile*

I'd like to find a sync option for contacts myself that isn't outlook as outlook seems to be blocking my phone from syncing for some reason now.

If it a windows based phone go to www.microsoft.com and look for programs under the mobile section. Active sync is accessible, and Media player 10 or 11 will allow you to setup a sync in the program. You go to sync minue. Winamp will allow you to Sync up your music as well. You can choose in both auto, or manual.
Hope that helps if not say I'll post some links to infomation you can read and instructions. Also I know you use Verizon, so get the program via them for your phone, specially if it the Envy. I loaded it and you simply plug it up and do your music, but it doesn't do the calinder. Windows based phones will do it all for you however.

Is there a way to sync with windows media and have control what is syncing? It seems whatever I rip into my computer, goes into the wmp library. I don't want all of that to go into my phone.

Hmmm, I prefer winamp, but does that mean I need to get winamp for my phone?

BTW, it is the htc ozone.

Also, can outlook express sync?

Ok I have a question on this topic. I sink everything from my phone to pc with windows mobile device center but do not see the contacts in my outlook. I know they are there though because when I connected my pacmate later and did a sink they all came over to it. Is there a way to get them to show in ms outlook 2007? I really like this program a lot and want to continue to use it. Thanks a lot.

Okay on the media player. There is a way to keep everything from even going in to your player if you wish. You can also control what is sync to your phone, sort of load it drop tracks you're tired of, then add others. Instead of explaining I'm going to get links for you so you all can read them as offten as you like. You can get your outlook 2007 hooked up as well. Also outlook express will not sync but the phone book might. Windows mobile is setup to sync outlook contacts/calendar, so.
Active sync is the tool for this operation and is a free download. Back to the music you will need to add the phone to Winamp. I perfer Windows Media player when I want to sync, so can't help there, but use Winamp for other things, so can learn quickly. Smile. You phone has media player, so that is the best way. Generally you open media player and tab down to sync minue after conecting your phone. You have to set up the partnership and you'll find options for automatic sync or manual the type you want. After the partnership is setup you plug the phone up than select the song in your library you want to sync Hit the applications key and you find add to sync list.
It's easy. I'll post these links so you both can get indept instructions.

Sorry the last post was tacky written.
Okay to sync your phone with Media player 10 or 11. Open up Windows media player. The help section can be found by key stroke Alt H. You find media player help click it then you’ll be in the manual. You arrow down to the section you want to read about and you’ll learn how to sync your device or anything else you wish to learn about controlling Windows media player.
For the 2007 calendar and contacts this program works and is accessible. http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/en-us/help/synchronize/default.mspx
You’ll find instructions on how to do it and the correct active sync download depending on your situation.

Peace.

Ok after investigating I have came across this weird thing. When I go to change my sink settings: lets say to stop or start sinking a specific thing in windows mobile device center, it has settings next to every choice in the list. Well when I click settings next to the sink contacts button it says how would you like to sink and the only thing it has is from pc to phone. It does not have phone to pc which is what I need it to do as I have tons of people saved in my phone that I need on my new comp. Maybe someone can help?

Here's an idea, because I don't know your phone, but. Most phones have a sync tab you must start the sync from the phone to get to the computer, so look in your phones settings?
